Members of the public are being invited to get a behind-the-scenes look at the work of RNLI volunteers at Dartmouth lifeboat station.

The special VIP experience offers visitors the chance to see the lifeboat and station up close, while learning more about the engineering behind the boats and the work involved in saving lives at sea.

The price of the ticket will help fund the RNLI’s lifesaving work.

The 90-minute tour includes access to the station's kit room, where crew members prepare for callouts, as well as a guided tour explaining how the station operates.

Visitors will also be invited into the crew room for a hot drink and the chance to hear stories from volunteers about some of their rescues.

Each guest will receive an exclusive pin badge with the name of the lifeboat station, as a memento of the VIP experience and a certificate from the crew as a thank you for your visit and support.

The organisers say the content of each tour may vary depending on tides and weather conditions. While they will try to provide access to the lifeboat, this will only be possible when operational and weather conditions allow and it is safe to do so.

As the station is operational, should a lifeboat be called out, or the station facilities are required for an emergency, they reserve the right to cancel the visit if necessary, for the safety of visitors and station volunteers.

Visitors will be asked to provide a mobile phone number when booking tickets in the event a visit needs to be cancelled or rescheduled at short notice.
