SUPER heroes brought an out of this world feel to Dartmouth Academy on Friday.

Scores of students and staff dressed as their favourite character in aid of the BBC?Children in Need appeal.

The fancy dress event, along with a cake sale organised by primary phase children at the end of the day, raised £567 for the BBC's big Pudsey Bear charity event.

Principal Nick Hindmarsh led the charge as Richard the Lionheart, while assistant principal Matt Bakewell raised a smile as Captain Underpants and director of learning Lisa Print paid tribute to the suffragette movement by dressing as Emmeline Pankhurst.

A spokesman at the college: 'Students paid £1 each to come in fancy dress or mufti for the day. Others baked cakes for sale, which saw £160 made in about 15 minutes. It was all great fun for a good cause.'

Nationally, more than £32.6m was raised. An appeal spokesman said: 'Thank you to all who donated – you are all heroes.'
