A new flagpole has been installed at St Peter’s Church in Stoke Fleming. The old flagpole had rotted away and was last used to fly the flag at half-mast for Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh.

David Holmes, chairman of the Friends of St Peter’s, said the new pole was paid for by the Friends of St Peter’s with money raised by a mobile phone photo competition and donations from the parishioners of Stoke Fleming. It was installed by Creekside Boatyard of Dartmouth. The pole is made of glass fibre to withstand the heavy winds and salt the top of the church tower is subjected to.
