JODIE BOWSER, known as ‘Mrs P’, of Raleigh Close, Townstal, writes:
It was at 6.30am on bank holiday Monday that I had just got up, fed the cat and made the first cup of coffee of the day. As is her wont, I opened the front door so the cat could go and survey the front garden.
Then, at around 7am-7.15am, there was a knock at the door and there was a nice young policeman there.
My face must have said ‘what’s happened?’, as he smiled and said there was nothing to worry about, but they had received a call from someone driving past who was worried that my front door was open.
Yes, I am elderly, so I guess this very nice person was concerned for my well-being.
So I want to say a very big thank you, first to the person who rang the police, and by no means second, to the local police for their fast response in attending to the call.
It could have been the call and the immediate response that saved my life.
I would very much like to know the identity of the car driver so I could thank them personally.
Dartmouth once again has proved a safe and caring place to live. Thank you.
