GEOFF CHURCH, of Chillington, Kingsbridge, writes: As I look out of my kitchen window, I wave 'goodbye' to the last of the beautiful sycamore trees cut down in the name of progress. These trees have graced the hedge and stream forming what was, until this week, a beautiful little country lane (for as long as I can remember). Another piece of our picturesque natural world gone for ever! No longer will the song thrush and blackbirds sing in the tree-tops. Gone too will be the nesting places for house sparrows, swallows and starling when the shed is destroyed. How much longer will it be before there will be no bird song? Money and greed, will eventually destroy the very countryside that wealthy people like to have for their holiday and second homes in our once beautiful Devon. Conclusion: No doubt the majority of both will say that luxury apartments and houses are far more important than destroying our Natural World! Who cares?
