A 38-year-old man has been remanded in custody after appearing in court charged with the murder of Rebecca Grass.

Luke Rigby, of Newcomen Road, Dartmouth, appeared at Plymouth Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, October 10, charged with the murder of 46-year-old Ms Grass and five other offences.

The case was sent to Plymouth Crown Court, where Rigby is due to appear on Monday, October 12, for a bail hearing.

Rigby is also charged with assault occasioning grievous bodily harm in relation to a 46-year-old man who was taken to hospital with facial injuries, assault by beating, a racially aggravated public order offence and assault on an emergency worker.

Police and other emergency services were called to a “serious disturbance” on Newcomen Road at approximately 9.20pm on Tuesday, October 6.

Ms Grass was pronounced dead, and Rigby was arrested at the scene.

Devon and Cornwall Police have not released any further information about the nature of the incident, including any weapon or motive, and ask the public not to speculate.
