The South Hams was well-represented when England took on a star-studded Barbarians side at Twickenham last weekend. Two Ivybridge Community College alumni, Sam Hill and Dave Ewers, started the match, Ewers going over for the game's opening try to give the youthful England side the lead. While Saxons players Hill and particularly Ewers both enhanced their prospects of further representation, all agreed the star of the show was fly-half and vice-captain Henry Slade. Slade, who hails from Yealmpton, score 16 points including a try in a superb individual display that will ensure his burgeoning reputation. All three of the South Hams youngsters have already been capped by the Saxons and further England honours seem only a matter of time if their progress continues.
