On a sunny, but chilly day, five members of Dartmouth AAC took part in the second annual Stover 5km race and children's run.

The cross-country route is a combination of field and trail surfaces, with a good climb at the 1.5km and 4km marks, with shorter distance children's races.

First to run was Finley Roberts, running in the under nines age group, over an 800m course.

Finley had an impressive run in his first-ever cross-country for the club, finishing third overall in a time of 5:09s.

Next up was the main adult 5km, seeing Nick Roberts finishing fifth overall in 21:11s, followed by John Hart in ninth place in 23:05s, Marie Jones in 33rd place in 27:57s and Ali McGrigor in 39th place in 30:15s, all four of them achieving personal bests.

Later the same day Nick, John and Ali headed to Plymbridge Woods. This time they were wearing head torches as they were taking part in the National Trust's night run series. The multi-terrain course sees runners heading off into the hilly woods along the edge of the River Plym, over a 9km course.

Taking his first-ever race victory was Nick Roberts in a time of 44:06s, closely followed by John Hart in eighth place with a time of 50:07s. Ali McGrigor finished in 61st place with a time of 1:10:06s. Men's club captain Nick said: 'It was a great day's running by all that took part.

The club are always looking out for new adult runners whatever their standard. There is a place for everyone at the club and we meet at 6:30pm on Thursday nights at the Dartmouth Leisure Centre.'
