Lewis Easter hit the jackpot in last week's monthly stableford, he's been out of the running for a long time though, his only claim to fame being the odd two here and there writes John Garner.
Indeed, one week he had the only two, which brought him much gold, but it just goes to show that if you are patient in this game it will eventually pay off.
Mark Collins is another example, in last week's midweek medal he couldn't hit the ball straight, his timing just wasn't there and by the 10th he'd no resulted and used the rest of his round as a practice.
A week later he turns up for the midweek stableford and shoots 37 and all is well again.
The stableford results were 1 Lewis Easter 40, 2 Mark Collins 37 on countback from 3 Richard Watts 37, 4 Mike Griffiths 36, and 5 D.J. Parnell 35.
The monthly stableford was cancelled last Saturday as the course was closed due to torrential rain.
The forecast gave it clearing up later so a few players stayed and were rewarded when the club opened at 11.30am and six went out, starting on the 10th.
Bob Wotton won the back, scoring 18, but Rob Knight took the honours as he so often does, winning the front nine with 20 points and overall with 37.
Again patience paid off as Rob said it turned out to be a really nice day and all six enjoyed the game and had good fun to boot.
Next week is the first round of the winter league. There are some interesting pairs, I wonder who Bob Cottam would put his money on, Paul Dunkerley and Lea Humphreys perhaps or Mario Aresti and Mike Whitelaw, but the pair that get the most shots will be Rob Isaacs Berry and Pete Forde.
Who knows what will occur, but one things for sure, all of the competitors will be looking forward to it.
