ASHMOOR Hockey Club are riding high after winning the England Hockey Super Sixes Division 1 Title after two weekends of high-quality Indoor Hockey.
Against some of the best teams in the country, they came through their eight matches with six wins, a draw, and just one narrow defeat.
Ashmoor started their campaign with a tough opening day, facing the two teams relegated from the 9-team Premier League in 2025.
However, an opening 6-3 win over Team Bath Buccaneers settled the nerves. Captain Jamie Bishop opened the scoring, with George Galbraith adding a second. Bath pulled it back to 2-2 before Bishop made it 3-2 to Ashmoor on the stroke of halftime.
Jack Dinnie assisted Fletch Naisbett-Jones to two second half goals, and Rich Ashworth scored the other. Chris Bristow in the Ashmoor goal made an outstanding save from a penalty stroke to keep Ashmoor comfortably ahead.
In their second match against Canterbury, the brakes were off once Bishop gave Ashmoor a quarter time lead. He completed a first half hat trick and Rich Ashworth made it 4-1 at the interval.
Lewis Hammett scored a second half brace, and Cullen Turner & Ben Barnett registered their first goals of Super Sixes 2026 to give Ashmoor a resounding 8-1 win.
Ashmoor followed up with a tight 2-2 draw with higher ranked Guildford.
Ashworth gave Ashmoor the lead, and despite a set piece equaliser Galbraith restored Ashmoor's lead going into the break. However, a lapse early on in the second half gave Guildford another equaliser.
Ashmoor created chances but with two shots coming back off the post, and Guildford defenders saving no fewer than four set piece efforts on the goal line it seemed the luck was with them.
In the final game of weekend one, Ashmoor faced North Conference leaders Leeds.
The Yorkshire side were very resilient coming back twice from a brace of goals by Ashmoor's Fletch Naisbett-Jones, the second a lovely 1:2 with Ashworth.
It was then Ashmoor's turn to show their mettle - going 3-2 down they rose to the challenge and skipper Bishop pulled it back to 3-3.
Alf Dinnie then gave Ashmoor the lead after great composure from youngster Ben Barnett. The evergreen Hammett added Ashmoor's fifth to finish 5-3.
The win meant at the end of the first weekend Ashmoor were lying in second place behind Repton.

Onto the second weekend of matches and Ashmoor were first up against the experienced Bowdon team. In a high-quality team performance, Ashmoor ran out 3-0 winners, with goals coming from Bishop (his seventh) and Naisbett-Jones, plus a first of the Super Sixes 2026 from 16-year-old Theo Bennett with a classy finish.
Chris Bristow, outstanding in the Ashmoor goal also completed the only clean sheet of the whole league, some 36 matches.
Ashmoor took their foot off the gas in match number six and were punished by Premier League outfit Reading. A slow start saw them fall 2-0 behind. The wake-up call saw Cullen Turner pull one back before half time.
Bishop then equalised, but a couple of defensive lapses meant Reading opened up a 4-2 lead.
Barnett got another back for Ashmoor, but almost immediately Reading made it 5-3 with a route one goal. Bishop pulled one back but Ashmoor ran out of time with the game finishing 5-4 to Reading.
And so to the final day of matches. With Ashmoor well placed, the only guarantee of promotion was to get four points from their final two matches.
In a cagey Devon-derby against Exeter University, Ashmoor got off to a good start to another Bishop goal.
However, despite lots of pressure and chances they couldnt add to it, and former Ashmoor U18 alumni Will Harvey used his pace & skill to draw Exeter level at halftime.
Ashmoor's composure was excellent and in the third quarter goals from Bishop and Barnett made it 3-1. Exeter pulled it back to 3-2 but Jack Dinnie linked up superbly with Naisbett-Jones to make the final score 4-2 to Ashmoor.
In their last match of the competition, Ashmoor faced their toughest test against an unbeaten Repton side. However, the supporters need not have worried as every single player stepped up to the challenge and produced an outstanding team performance.
Jamie Bishop gave Ashmoor the lead, and soon after, the lively Lewie Jones stole the ball of a Repton defender and set up Dec Turner for his first goal of the Super Sixes.
Early in the second quarter Bishop got his second goal of the game (and his 13th in the competition). However, Repton showed why they were at the top of the table coming back into the game with two open play goals of their own to make it a tight 3-2 to Ashmoor at half time.
After the break, Bishop robbed the ball from Repton and set up Dinnie for a great fourth goal. But Repton weren't done and scored a set piece penalty corner, before winning a penalty stroke off another to make it 4-4 and set up a thrilling final quarter.
Ashmoor then played some of their best hockey to control the game, saving their best until last. Naisbett-Jones finished beautifully for his sixth goal of the league and then set up Dec Turner to put the icing on the cake with a goal which made it 6-4 to Ashmoor.
The win didn't just seal promotion but also leap-frogged Ashmoor over Repton to secure the Division 1 Title.
The achievement was testament to the hard work put in by all the players and team personnel over the years.
It means that Ashmoor will compete in the top-tier of England Indoor Hockey next season, against the very best other eight clubs in the country ... not bad for a little club in Devon, which was only formed in 2003!
