After two consecutive Medals for the Club Championships, Dartmouth GC ladies opted for a fun competition this time around, reports Chris Mushens.

That said, the fun was quite selective on some holes as it was played from the red, white and blue tees - with the sweetener of double points on the blue holes and treble points on the white.

Katie Panton who was the most consistent scorer, finishing head and shoulders above the rest of the field with 59 points. Shelley Durrans was second with 47 points and Alison White third with 45.

The Dartmouth course ladies played the same format over nine holes and the scores were close, just three points separating the top three. Barbara Dally prevailed with 23 points, followed by Sharon Jones (22) and Roz Forde (21).

There were close scores in the men’s Midweek Stableford as well with Paul Durrant and Matt Young benefiting from late starts. Both finished on 39 points, with matching front and back nine scores, so it was Matt’s birdie on the sixteenth that gave him the edge on countback.

Nigel Osborne’s Division Two win was more clear-cut, finishing on 38 points, four clear of the next-best Steve Atkins. Mark Mitchell scored the only two of the day on the eighteenth.

What a week it was for Nigel as he topped Division Two in Saturday’s Mixed Stableford with 40 points, despite the windy conditions. Gary Widdicombe came home next on 38.

Ian Metchette made a welcome return to form with a Division One win, notching 42 points to David Cooke’s 38. There were no twos.

The Dartmoor League team continued their excellent results with a 4.5-0.5 home win over Okehampton. With their main rivals in the league, Honiton, playing later, Dartmouth returned to top spot. Congratulations to Dave Nicholls and the team.
