SAM Biscoe announced earlier this year that, after four years in charge, the time had come for him to depart Stoke Gabriel & Torbay Police.
The former Bees manager confirmed that “Now is the time to step away from the club due to life, work and family commitments.”
He added that he “Loved his time with Stoke” thanks to the “really nice people, great club and great facilities.”
Biscoe has now been announced by Newton Abbot Spurs alongside Matt Hayden, who also frequented the Broadley Lane technical area last season.
Hayden, who also spent time with Brixham AFC in the Southern League after he left Stoke, took to social media and wrote: As “soon as I heard the plans for the club [Spurs] moving forward, I knew it was something I wanted to be a part of. Looking forward to getting going in this next chapter.”
New Newton Spurs chairman Steve Elswood, who made the appointment his priority following his arrival at the club last week, said:
“Matt brings valuable management experience from his time at Bovey Tracey, alongside experience at Brixham AFC, while both worked alongside each other in a joint capacity last season at Stoke Gabriel.
“To secure both of them is a major coup for the club.
“They bring excellent professionalism, strong contacts within the game and completely fit the profile of the progressive management team we wanted to lead the club forward.
“Their ambitions match the direction of the project we are building, and we’re excited about what lies ahead both on the pitch and throughout the club as a whole.”
The two sides of course both play in the SW Peninsula League East so their will be at least two reunions for Biscoe and Hayden in 2026/27, with their former club.
