SDFL division four

Dittisham United 3,

Bovey Tracey thirds 3

The Plums looked to build on last weeks demolishing of Paignton Saints against league strugglers Bovey.

Dittisham started well; with confidence soaring, Dean Martyn, Dan Bastin and new signing Tom Knight had little to do but join in with green attack after attack.

Midfielder Joe Blamey broke up anything Bovey had to offer and moved the ball quickly to Joe Kirby and Aaron Soper, who were both a constant threat in the final third.

Dittisham got what they deserved when a Martyn free kick was bundled over the line by Marcus Copeman after Sam Bruckner got a touch on the delivery.

The advantage was soon doubled through Chris Fisher as the wing-back's trademark driving run down the right ended in him superbly striking the ball low across the goalkeeper and into the bottom corner.

The greens seemed to believe the game was won and were punished with two quickfire goals early in the second half which saw Bovey draw level.

Wave after wave of Dittisham attack followed but the pressure never paid off and a fast counter-attack saw Bovey take the lead with 15 minutes left to play.

The green onslaught continued in search of a late equaliser and patience finally paid dividends deep into injury time as captain Martyn bundled in a loose ball in the six-yard box.

The Plums viewed this as two points lost rather than one gained but can take a lot of confidence that chances will be made as they visit South Brent reserves for the quarter-final of the league cup this weekend.

The man-of-the-match award went to Joe Blamey.
