Dartmouth didn't have a game this weekend so they had a training session, in preparation for their Devon Trophy final game which takes place this weekend.

Dartmouth take on Kingsbridge Cougars at Okehampton,  strangely enough, both teams having to make a 360-mile trip for both hockey teams and supporters alike.

Just a couple of years ago Dartmouth would have dreaded the task of taking on the Cougars, but in the last season or so there has been a mutual respect by both teams for the way they are playing their hockey.

Last year Dartmouth took on the Cougars in the Devon Cup final down at Plymouth, which the Cougars won.

This year, however, Dartmouth are in a much better place hockey-wise.

There will be no hiding place for either team this year and Dartmouth will have a glut of players to pick from.

Violet Miller, Sarah Barrett, Lisa Hunt, Sam Webb, to name a few, have all made themselves available and fully fit for this crunch match.

This will be a game where Dartmouth will give it their all and as usual they'll leave absolutely nothing on the pitch.

Dartmouth have prepared well for this important cup final and will be meeting after their training session on the Monday evening before they head off on their trip to Okehampton.

Captain Lucy Pillar will have her work cut out when she gives the Dartmouth ladies a big pat on the back for the brilliant hockey that they've played this season and try and hold the Dartmouth ladies back, because they will be champing at the bit to get this game under way against their local rivals.

Win or lose, Dartmouth have come a very long way in a short time and winning this trophy game against the league champions would be the icing on the cake.
