Petroc division one

Dartmouth 5,

The Dartmouth ladies didn't disappoint this weekend, being clinical and decisive in their play and their performance.

Coach Matt Putt reminded the Dartmouth ladies that this was a team they had to beat, but Dartmouth could take nothing for granted.

Dartmouth started at a furious pace with their shock and awe tactic. With just four minutes gone, Lucy Pillar picked the ball up from deep and took it on before slipping the ball to Lisa Hunt on the right wing.

Hunt crossed the ball over to Mandy Servan on the left wing and she slotted the ball past the Dawlish 'keeper.

Dartmouth, happy with their play, pressed for another goal and five minutes later they were rewarded.

This time Sarah Barrett received the ball from Chelsey Rendle before passing to Lucy. She took the ball into the opposition's D and hit past the Dawlish 'keeper for goal number two.

The goals were coming thick and fast and two minutes later Mandy was on the score sheet again.

Jamie Rendle, fully refreshed from her trip to New York, got in on the act, passing the ball to Lucy, who saw her shot saved by the Dawlish 'keeper.

In came Mandy to sweep the ball into the goal and take the score to 3-0 with just 12 minutes gone.

The next goal was a brilliant display of hockey. Jamie stole the ball from a Dawlish player and passed the ball to Lisa. She slipped the ball to Lucy, who nonchalantly slotted the ball past the advancing Dawlish 'keeper, with just 20 minutes on the clock.

The next goal was almost a carbon copy of the last, Jamie picking the ball up from deep before releasing Lisa, who turned provider once more to give Lucy a well-deserved hat-trick.

Umpire Jo Rendle blew up for half time, much to the relief of a shell-shocked Dawlish, who now had some much-needed time to reflect and regroup.

Dartmouth rang the changes in the second half, Matt Putt taking off Lisa Hunt and bringing on Darcey Wall.

He also changed Julie Pillar for Alicia Wadeson and, in the final change, Chelsey Rendle came off for Freya Bradley.

With all the changes, Dawlish took full advantage but couldn't penetrate the Dartmouth defence, made up of Ellie Malley, Hannah Pillar Chloe Edwards and now Freya Bradley.

Siobhan Edwards pushed up and helped Sarah Barrett.

Try as they might, Dartmouth couldn't score, Lucy Pillar coming close, along with Mandy Servan and Darcey Wall.

With the final whistle blown, Dartmouth felt good about the result and are looking forward to the next game against Sidmouth and Ottery at Exeter this Saturday.

If Dartmouth can replicate this game on Saturday they are serious contenders for promotion. The game was kindly sponsored by Charlie at Bayards Inn.
