Dartmouth will come together on Sunday 8 November for its annual Remembrance Day parade and service, hosted by Dartmouth Town Council and Britannia Royal Naval College.

At approximately 10.15am, cadets and veterans will march from Coombe Road at BRNC, along College Way and the Embankment to The Quay. The VIP party, dignitaries and representatives of local organisations will leave the Guildhall at around 10.30am, while members of the public are warmly invited to gather in Royal Avenue Gardens from 10.40am.

The service will begin at 11am, with the traditional two-minute silence followed by wreath-laying at the Dartmouth War Memorial Cross. The Mayor of Dartmouth, the Captain of Britannia Royal Naval College and the Deputy Lieutenant of Devon will attend alongside other dignitaries.

This year will also bring a striking new element: a combined oar salute by Dartmouth’s local rowing clubs. The raised oars will form a simple visual monument, reflecting the dignity and solemnity of the occasion.

The ceremony will conclude with a march past, with the Deputy Lieutenant, Mayor and Captain of BRNC taking the salute from the dais. More than a civic tradition, the gathering remains a shared act of gratitude—an opportunity for the town to honour those who served and sacrificed their lives for our freedom.
