Daphne Jefferson – chair South Hams Hospital League of Friends, writes:
I would like to thank you for continuing to support the League of Friends of South Hams Hospital in the paper, as I appreciate we are completely in your hands when it comes to what you choose to publish in the paper.
However, I was concerned this week to read the article headed 'Drop in Centre donation', and felt that the fact that the LOF donation to the Triangle Centre was again £20,000 was lost. You will appreciate that this is a large sum of money and we can only donate because of the generosity of the people of the South Hams, who, over the years, have appreciated the enormous asset our community hospital is to our area. We need the support of the public to continue, so it is of great importance to get the message across that it is only through their generosity that we are able to continue to donate such large sums.
In these difficult days of fundraising the legacies we have been lucky enough to receive have enabled us to continue our support for the hospital and the people of the South Hams.
Some community hospitals are currently under threat and although I believe that the South Hams is not one of them we do need the continued support of the public, and our doctors, to ensure that we do not loose the excellent facilities our hospital is able to provide. I do hope your paper will continue to support us in keeping the profile of our hospital and the league in the public eye.
