A Salcombe seagull is becoming an unlikely international celebrity, with appearances on CNN International, French television and a German TV debut reportedly on the way.
Roger the seagull has become a familiar sight around Clifton Place, where he has formed a close bond with local shop owner Mark Khoury.
Mark, who owns the Salcombe Yawl, Driftwood Deli and Normans of Salcombe, first encountered Roger around four or five years ago after the young bird fell from his nest outside the shops.
Mark said: “My partner at the time made me pick him up, we put him in a box and put that in a shed at the back.
“He never left our sides.”
“When he started flying he got caught on some seagull wires and some hooks.”
“I got the ladder out and brought him down.”
“Hence how we can identify Roger, because he's got two holes in one foot and one in the other foot.”
Roger, also affectionately known as “Mr Roger”, has become a familiar character to local customers and visitors to Salcombe.
Mark says the bird has developed his own routine around Clifton Place, regularly flying backwards and forwards to keep other seagulls away from his patch.
Mark said: “He goes backwards and forwards to keep all the other seagulls away.”
“He gets fed four prawns a day and he's got a new friend called Peter.”
Roger's fame has now spread well beyond Salcombe, helped by his own Instagram account, which was launched around six to nine months ago.
“He's got over 100,000 hits on his Instagram account,” Mark said. “He's had his own account for the last six to nine months, which is gaining followers.”
“The kids come down on holiday and ask for Roger,” Mark said.
Finding him is apparently as simple as a whistle.
“I whistle and he comes down,” he added.
From an abandoned youngster, to attracting an international audience, Roger appears to have made quite a name for himself.
