John Tremlet, Letters, July 12, should know that the flight of the Vulcan was discussed at the regular Friday regatta meeting.
Because of cost and, in my case environmental impact – I don't like the thought of all the spent aviation kerosene in our beautiful river – by a large majority the committee turned the idea down.
He is right – it should be a water festival but in isn't.
Personally I am very much if favour oars and sails before wings and vapour trails.
