MRS P M RICHARDSON, of Thurlestone Gardens, Dartmouth, writes:
I write concerning the parking problem in Dartmouth, in particular, during regatta week and other important events.
As a suggestion, why are cars from the Higher and Lower Ferries not directed, by large street signs, direct to the car parks at the top of town with a good supply of buses available to transport passengers back into town. Also, I feel that the present situation needs improving and would suggest that £10 per car during the regatta at the park and ride is excessive.
Families arriving for a week's holiday have to find £70 for parking before any other expense is taken into account.
Surely, if a lesser amount was charged – say £5 per car – it would encourage drivers to make use of the facility.
This would also save drivers going round and round the town looking for a parking space.
