Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta awards handed out to two local sport stars.

After nominations, two sporting competitors were awarded trophies by Regatta President Hilary Bastone.

The Harry Spencer Memorial Trophy awarded for the most outstanding effort by a Dartmouthian during the Regatta was presented to Alan O’Flaherty for rowing.

Alan won the Men’s Championship of the Dart, the mixed pair-oared race with Amy Bosworth and Tracy Sharam as cox and the double skulls with Ditsum Football Club.

He also came second with the Ship Inn Dock A in the men’s open whaler race and the men’s long distance whaler race with the Royal Castle Hotel and also third in the LVA men’s whaler plate race with the Ship Dock Inn A.

The Tracy White Cup is in memory of a popular girl and enthusiastic Regatta participant who was tragically killed in a road accident at the age of 24.

It is presented to a person aged 16 years or younger who shows similar qualities during Regatta and was presented to Nadine Smith this year.

Nadine competed in the West of England ARA events for Dartmouth ARC in the Ladies Under 16 single sculls, coxed the Men’s Senior B where she coxed four to second place and coxed the mixed open coxed four to second place.

In the local rowing events Nadine coxed the Ditsum Football Club to first place in the double sculls, coxed Tess Preston and Liam Hassard to third place in the mixed pair-oared race and coxed Oliver Smith and Marc Alderman in the Gents pair-oared race, competed in the junior pair-oared race with Lottie Cusack and Tess Preston as cox. Nadine also competed in the Waitresses Race.

Hilary also congratulated Nadine on her success at the South Coast Rowing Championships at Deal where the Dartmouth ARC Ladies Under 16 coxed quadruple sculls won their event to become South Coast champions.
