Yvonne Cottam, secretary of Dartmouth and District Sports Association, writes:
Through your pages could I please say a huge thank you to the Dartmouth Rowing Club, Dartmouth Gig Club and Kingswear Rowing Club who came out in force to make a line of oars along the North Embankment at Dartmouth to welcome through the Olympic torch. It was an amazing spectacle.
Thanks also to Gill Whitmore for setting the scene at Coronation Park with our open-air Zumba – and to all those 'brave' souls who took part. I hope we'll see you at a Zumba class soon.
I must mention too, Colin Brown and his busy staff at Browney's for keeping everyone fed and watered before and after the event; Townstal Community Partnership, Dartmouth Academy and RGC Building Supplies for their help in providing equipment and assistance.
It was wonderful to see Coronation Park being fully used by cricketers, tennis players, Zumba dancers, kids playing football and all the youngsters in the play park while parents used the cafe facilities.
Car park? No way!
