Regarding your article ‘Market “looks shut even when it’s open”’, there seems to be a vicious circle effect going on here.

The traders are struggling with a lack of trade, which makes it difficult to fill empty stalls. Some shops do not open for the same reason.

There is a solution: why not get the coach tours to drop off on Victoria Road, say by the sorting office? This would ensure people at least have to walk past the market and other businesses; the coaches could then move to the current

pick-up point.

The Tourist Information Centre could also be located where the Chronicle is based, ensuring more visitors to the market.

If we encourage people to go there, maybe the businesses will feel that it is worth upping their game.
