Food hygiene ratings given to 10 South Hams establishmentsAs second home owners, we are rapidly becoming disillusioned with the attitude of the council and the residents of Dartmouth.
It is enough that we have lost first, 40 per cent and then the remaining 10 per cent of the council tax discount.
Now we are threatened with an added five per cent to enable the town council to, among other things, renovate a flat at a cost of £60,000 to enable them to rent it out for £1,000 a month. This money will take five years to recoup and by that time the renovations will need to be done again.
We are seriously thinking of selling up and finding somewhere else in the South Hams where second home owners are treated with a little more courtesy and respect for what they bring to the community. It is time for Dartmouth to take a long, hard look at how it treats its second home owners or many will leave and the town will be worse off for it.
