Dartmouth Food Festival have cancelled outdoor events on Saturday, as well as Friday, after monitoring weather concerns.

Following the decision on Wednesday, October 21, to postpone some elements of this year’s Festival on Friday, organisers say they have been monitoring the situation but, “with regret” they must now roll forward this decision to include both Friday and Saturday.

Organisers clarify this cancellation applied to exhibitors trading under canvas, and does not apply to exhibitors trading in the Market Square on Saturday, who will be open as planned.

Events taking place at the Flavel, Dartmouth Yacht Club, The Sail Loft, Browns Hotel and the Flavel Church will continue as planned.

In addition, Fire and Flame on the South Embankment are planning to be open on both Saturday and Sunday.

Although also under canvas, Dartmouth Food Festival will still be running Food Matters, the Demonstration Marquee and Workshops in Royal Avenue Gardens on Saturday.

A spokesperson said: “We have been monitoring the situation but safety is paramount. On a happy note, the weather forecast for Sunday is much improved and we are expecting to present a full programme.

“These decisions have not been taken lightly. However, the safety and wellbeing of everyone involved in the Food Festival – our visitors, exhibitors, volunteers, presenters and event teams – is our highest priority.”

Several meetings were held throughout the day on Friday to ensure the best outcome for the festival, and visitor and exhibitor safety.
