The trial of the driver of the double decker bus which crashed near Totnes in 2019 was cut short today when the prosecution scrapped the 10 charges against him.

Kameron Allen originally pleaded not guilty to 10 charges of causing serious injury by dangerous driving on October 5, 2019 while driving the Stagecoach Gold double decker on the A385 towards Totnes.

But after a morning of hearing evidence from witnesses, the prosecution service withdrew the multiple charges of dangerous driving and instead charged Allen with the lesser charge of one count of careless driving.

Allen pleaded guilty, the jury was dismissed and sentencing is due to take place on Tuesday July 20.

A full report of the case will be in the newspaper this Thursday July 15.
