Your report on the efforts of chef Josh Turner-Hunt, Chronicle, September 16, in response to the refugee crisis in Greece makes for heart-warming reading.

For a 21-year-old to respond with such compassion, energy and organisation is outstanding.

To inspire others to help and fundraise is truly exceptional.

His story is the perfect antidote to the negativity and xenophobia whipped up in the closing stages of the EU Referendum campaign and should serve as a salutary lesson to some older members of the community.

In a world where so many seem to worship greed and selfishness on an increasing scale, it is so encouraging to witness Josh’s practical demonstration of youthful idealism.
