Happy 700th Birthday to St Clement’s Church.

A weekend of celebrations marked the 700 year anniversary of the consecration of St Clement’s Church in Townstal last weekend.

The festivities began on Friday, November 23, with the St Clement’s Day eucharist followed by bubbly and nibbles.

Members of the community, the clergy, the choir and pink birthday balloons packed the church. Simon Wright, Vicar of Dartmouth and Dittisham from 2000 to 2010 was welcomed back as a preacher for the event.

The celebrations continued on Saturday with lots of children’s activities, craft tables and an opportunity for everyone to try their hand at bell ringing.

Lunchtime visitors were treated to homemade soups and a concert from the Dartmouth Ukulele Group.

Over the weekend, photograph displays of the church and information from local organisations who use the church and the parish hall were also on view.
