ANNETTE ROSSER, of Crowthers Hill, Dartmouth, writes:

Dartmouth's Community Cafe has been blessed but the Market Cafe seems to have been cursed!

This business was forced to close for months while the destruction of the market took place and, during all that time, the family were striving to survive on two mornings' trade a week in Ivy Lane Youth Centre.

They were offered no compensation and no cafe can make up the loss of Easter trade in a season.

Ironically, the market building across the other side of the Victoria Road entrance remains untouched, so why destroy a similar building and family livelihood?

The rebuilding of the Market Cafe has been a disaster, as no provision has been made for ventilation.

Maybe the designers of the renovations thought the doors could be left open, or forgot, or could not understand the requirements.

I had expected several letters to be sent to you on this subject but – I begin to wonder – does Dartmouth really care?
