Dartmouth Coastguard Rescue Team were called out on October 18 just before 5.40pm to reports of a body boarder who went out of sight. They were paged to Limpet Rocks, just around the corner from Torcross Beach. Once on scene the team realised the potential severity of the situation due to the sea state and horrendous weather. Kingsbridge Coastguard had also arrived. Falmouth Coastguard also alerted Salcombe RNLI who were on route to assist, as well as our Coastguard rescue Helicopter from Newquay. They spotted the boarder in the distance, They had managed to climb around the rocks on foot, and up onto the relative safety of the beach. They were unhurt, but tired. Advice was given to them and the team stood down. This was the second time they had been paged to people in difficulty in the water, during a storm. DCRT advise people to avoid the sea under storm conditions.
