The Royal Navy bomb squad has said that an airsoft grenade caused the closure of a South Hams recycling centre.
The Mk8 Thunderflash, which is used for military training and historical reenactments, was discovered by staff at Torr Quarry earlier today.
A spokesman for the Royal Navy said the device has now been removed and taken back to Plymouth where it will be destroyed.
"We’d like to thank Devon and Cornwall Police and the staff at the centre for their swift response," he said.Kingsbridge Police said the centre has now reopened.
