A Kingsbridge man has admitted waving a metal scaffolding bar around and threatening members of the public.

Paul Shand, of St Ann's Chapel, was arrested following the incident outside the Creeks End Inn at around 4.30pm on Friday, November 1.

Devon and Cornwall Police said the 46-year-old had been charged with two public order offences.

Shand pleaded guilty to both offences at Plymouth Magistrates’ Court on Monday, November 4.

He was ordered to pay a £120 fine, a £32 victim surcharge and court costs of £28.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokeswoman said: “Police were called to a public order incident in Kingsbridge on Friday, November 1.

“The incident happened outside the Creeks End Inn on the Quay between 4.25pm and 4.35pm.

“A man was reportedly making threats towards members of the public and then waving a metal bar in public.

“A man was located nearby and arrested.

“Paul Shand, 46, of St Ann’s Chapel, Kingsbridge, was charged with two public order offences for using threatening or abusive words or behaviour towards a man and within the hearing or sight of others who are likely to be caused harassment, alarm or distress.”
