Devon and Cornwall Police have confirmed that a body has been recovered from the water at St Peter's Quay in Totnes.

Police were seen in the area on Monday followed by divers and a man's body was later found.

The man was subsequently pronounced dead.

Police are looking for the man's next-of-kin but the incident isn't being treated as suspicious.

In a statement, Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police were called to St Peter's Quay, Totnes, at about 2pm on Monday March 27 following reports of a body in the water. A man in his 50s was confirmed deceased at the scene. His next of kin have been informed. The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
