Denbury Athletic u14s 1

Dartmouth AFC u14s 2

Dartmouth travelled to Denbury looking to avenge the 5-3 home defeat when the sides met at Longcross two weeks ago.

In a game which had almost everything, they eventually ground out a wonderful victory.

The teams were very evenly matched in the first half with Dartmouth having a Jamie Burrows goal disallowed for offside and Denbury causing Darts keeper Aaron Morrison problems.

The opening goal arrived in the 25th minute when a long ball down the left side saw the Denbury number 10 outpace Charlie Blair before slotting past Morrison.

Another long ball over the Darts defence saw Kieran Doyle make a last ditch attempt on the edge of the box, leaving the referee with no option but to send him off.

With a 1-0 deficit to turn around at half-time, coupled with the fact that they were down to 10 men, Dartmouth faced a mamoth task but they put in an extraordinary shift to totally dominate the second half.

The chances were carved out on a regular basis with Henry Rodwell-Lynn hitting the post twice, Jo Nicholls seeing a drive tipped inches over and Liam Wadeson weaving through three defenders before smashing a shot over.

With six minutes remaining the equaliser arrived when Cameron Webb fed Tom Matthews, who turned his marker before slipping an inch perfect throughball onto Jamie Burrows. The attacker blasted his shot beyond the keeper.

The winning goal came with just one minute remaining when Wadeson burst down the right wing and whipped over a fine cross which Rodwell-Lynn shot into the far corner.
