Dartmouth AFC 11,

Kingskerswell and Chelston 1

Dartmouth AFC continued their good run of form with a comfortable 11-1 victory over Kingskerswell and Chelston at Longcross on Saturday.

The visitors only turned up with 10 men, but to their credit they made it difficult for Dartmouth, who made three changes from their win over Loddiswell.

As expected, the home side saw more of the ball and opened the scoring inside five minutes when Mark Forrester lashed in from the edge of the box via a deflection.

The home side were soon two goals up when Freddie Smith and Karl Baker combined to give Liam McAuley the easiest of finishes into an open net.

Within 20 minutes the game was all but over when Baker grabbed his first goal of the afternoon.

Kingskerswell looked dangerous on the counter attack, and after hesitancy in the Dartmouth defence the away winger headed over Richie Baker on the line and into the net to reduce the score to 3-1.

Charlie Smith and Josh Webber looked threatening out wide for the Darts, and it was the latter who scored from close range after more excellent play from Karl Baker.

Forrester was replaced by Richard Yeo midway through the half, but despite the fact the home side continued to dominate the ball, they struggled to really test the Kerswell backline.

However, shortly after this change Webber skipped into the area before being hauled to ground to give Dartmouth a penalty kick.

McAuley clinically placed the spot-kick to the right of the Kingskerswell 'keeper to score the home side's fifth goal.

Just before the break Dartmouth extended their advantage when defender Jordan Frost scored his first goal of the season after he poked home from a corner, but without playing at their best the home side knew their was much room for improvement.

Immediately after the break clever play from Adam Shobbrook and Charlie Smith saw McAuley breach the offside trap, and he lofted his effort superbly into the net for his hat-trick.

Two more goals from Karl Baker saw him claim another hat-trick, and more quick feet from Baker saw him felled in the area which resulted in McAuley scoring a second penalty kick to bring Dartmouth's tally to double figures.

Young Liam Wadeson was brought on from the bench and he came close to his second goal in as many games when his close-range effort was well saved.

The best goal of the match was left to last; a brilliant through ball from the departing Danny Acinas Mena saw Webber emphatically strike home from inside the area and into the top corner of the net to round off the scoring.

This was another important victory for Dartmouth, who further extend their lead at the top after teams below them were in cup action, and they will be looking for their sixth straight league win when they travel to Bovey Tracey reserves this weekend.

The club would like to thank Kevin John from the Ship In Dock Inn for his continued support in supplying the food for both sets of players.

Dartmouth reserves were disappointed to exit the Ronald Cup after being beaten 7-1 at Watcombe Wanderers reserves.

Rhys Morrallee had briefly levelled the game in the first half, but they will be looking to get back to winning ways in the league on Saturday away at Chudleigh reserves.

Both games this weekend kick off at 2.30pm.
