students dug themselves into a bit of a hole with their latest drama production.

Dartmouth Academy Year 8 youngsters have been performing a production of Louis Sachar's novel Holes, which was made into a Disney film starring Sigourney Weaver, Jon Voight, Henry Winkler and Eartha Kitt.

The students have been studying the novel about a boy sent to a US-type borstal where the young convicts are forced to dig holes to build character while in fact they are unknowingly helping the warden find buried treasure.

Academy literacy teacher Matt Bakewell worked with the children to put on two performances.
