RUTH HATTERSLEY, of Modbury, writes:

Driving around the lanes in the South Hams it is a glorious sight to see all the leggy wild flowers waving in the wind.

In Kingsbridge it is also a joy to be seeing buttercups amongst the long grasses that have been thankfully left to grow and not strimmed away like in many other parts of the UK.

It is comforting to see these sights and reminds me of life growing up in the 1970's where green spaces were left to grow wild for us to innocently explore.

The Chelsea Flower Show marks it's centenary with a host of gardens bursting with wild flowers and native British plants. Cow parsley features everywhere and so does

Ravenswing and red campion. So aren't we lucky to have field and hedgerow flowers and grasses everywhere to look at and enjoy where nature knows best for them to be.
