There’s a treat in-store for budding train enthusiasts as two iconic trains will pass through the county.

Passing through first is the English Riviera Statesman Pullman train, which will move through Dawlish on Saturday April 23, at 12.03 pm and again at 5.07 pm on its return journey.

Pullman trains in Britain were mainline luxury railway services that operated with first-class coaches and a steward service, provided by the British Pullman Car Company (PCC) from 1874 until 1962, and then by British Railways from 1962 until 1972.

The Following Thursday (April 28), there will be a chance to see the first steam tour of the year when the LMS 46233 Duchess of Sutherland will pass through on its way from Cardiff to Penzance.

There will be a chance to see this magnificent steam train again on Saturday, April 30, as it makes its return journey to London Victoria.

Timings for that have not yet been announced for the Duchess, but will be updated here: facebook.com/dawlishbeach/

Below is English trainspotter and social media personality Francis Bourgeois when he encountered the Duchess of Sutherland last year.
