Steve Dooley, of South Pool, Kingsbridge, writes:

Look at the people and organisations trying to persuade you to stay in the EU. Tony Blair, Peter Mandelson, Nick Clegg, Michael Heseltine, Kenneth Clarke and various trade union and business leaders.

Sixteen years ago these people were telling us that it would be disastrous if we didn’t join the euro. Britain would be sidelined economically, the pound would collapse in value, unemployment would rise, giant rats would roam our cities… (okay, I made that last one up).

They were wrong. The euro has turned out to be the disaster, causing major economic disruption and unemployment, particularly in the Mediterranean countries, and we are well out of it. These people were all wrong then, so why would anyone now believe their forecasts of economic despair if we vote to leave the EU? Wrong then, wrong now.
