Can I please through the good old Dartmouth Chronicle thank those who donated oars to this year's Royal Reggata oar appeal and also Steve Peacock and the newspaper's staff for their much appreciated help?

Also I must thank Hillary Bastone for finding time to sort the cash and sort my muddily fuddled bits of paper into a semblance of proper order. As I am rubbish at it.

The oars are now arrived paid for and will be in use in fact today. There has been some fantastic rowing in what is now a full Reggata week and today there is more to come. I must also just say that so good was the uptake that I have pledges for four of the hopefully 16 of the eights oars for the 117th reggata next year.

The generosity of the locals old and new and past and present never ceases to astound me when it comes to keeping the traditional local rowing very much alive.
