Well done to all who donated in various ways at the recent Foodbank appeal day, hosted by Tesco stores up and down the land, not least in Kingsbridge.

The event was held to raise awareness and build up resources for foodbanks to continue to do their work, nationally and regionally, in the face of growing need. The trustees of the Kingsbridge Area Foodbank applaud and welcome this initiative.

While this 'big event' is now past, we would remind readers that we depend on their continuing donations of non-perishable food items for us to maintain our weekly emergency provision to local people in crisis. Items may be placed in our collecting bins at Tesco's, at Morrison's, and at the Age Concern building. Several local churches also act as collection points.

Let's hope that foodbanks will not become a permanent feature of UK life, but, while they are needed just now, we are much encouraged by the social concern evidenced by the thoughtful and caring donations from all who have 'got the message'. Thank you.
