Two yellow weather warnings have been issued for wind and rain as wintry weather is set to hit the South Hams.
The Met Office has issued yellow warnings for rain on Friday, August 9, and wind on Saturday, August 10 - with some areas at risk of flooding.
Heavy showers and up to 30mm of rainfall have been predicted for the UK - with patches of Devon likely to be affected - and “unseasonably strong winds” of up to 40mph.
There is also a warning of scattered storms, thundershowers and a risk of flash flooding as temperatures remain around the August average of 21C.
Nicky Maxey, Met Office forecaster, said: “We are much more likely to see winds like this in the winter.
“In Devon and the South Hams, you have a lot of people camping and on holiday so people might experience unusual winds.
“There’s the possibility along the Channel of 50mph gusts.
“For Friday, a yellow warning covers most of UK as we are looking at 10-15mm of rain through Thursday to Friday.
“It’s a band that is going to move northwards so the South West will see worst of impact earlier on in the morning period.
“There will be Isolated points where you may see 30mm in just a few hours.
“Anywhere in the warning area, including the South Hams, is at risk of that band of rain which will be heavier bursts.
“Once the rain is cleared through we’ve got scattered storms and thundershowers.
“Overnight you’ve got a band of rain moving through then on Friday you have a risk of heavy showers.
“You could see 10-20mm rain in an hour which could be flooding because drains fill up quickly.”
