Anne Williams, of Weston-fields, Totnes, writes:
In reply to the letter from Tim Bonner, chief executive of the Countryside Alliance, Chronicle, November 10, I have to ask: is this man for real?
May I inform him that this is the year 2015, when people are more aware than ever of animal rights? May I suggest that he visits Brian May’s web page for more information on animal cruelty and animal welfare, as he clearly needs some guidance on this subject?
I was one of those people who petitioned MP Dr Sarah Wollaston to vote against the amendment to the Hunting Act that the Tories sneakily tried to bring in.
I am proud that I did this and would do it again if needed – I do not want to hear the usual lame excuses such as foxes being a nuisance to farmers etc, when it is really an excuse for a group of grown men and women with packs of hounds to chase a fox for miles until the point of exhaustion and then watch gleefully as it is ripped to pieces.
This is not the Middle Ages, for goodness’ sake.
Perhaps they would also like to see bear-baiting and witch-burning make their comebacks too.
As for the spoilt, pathetic hunting fraternity: I hold them is less regard than something I would wipe off the bottom of my shoe.
