ROBERT SHILLING of Lawn Road, Shaftesbury, Dorset, writes:
One would hate to think Dartmouth was coming apart at the seams but as a regular visitor to the town over many years I am inclined to this view.
Let us consider the following: the ridiculous imposition of the 20p charge to use the public conveniences on the embankment; potholes in almost all roads in the town; buildings disfigured by gull droppings; no accident and emergency cover at the hospital; loss of local buses; no direct link to the nearest major hospital in Torbay; few visiting cruise ships; rock bottom morale on the river; the recent failure of the street lights on the embankment; and the removal of skips in Mayor’s Avenue car park – not to mention the unpopular Business Improvement District and the district council’s recent efforts to torpedo the indoor swimming pool. The list goes on.
I am inclined to think those responsible must be graduates of the same nitwit school of management.
The word ‘feeble’ springs to mind. Pull your socks up or visitors will stop coming to your much-loved town.
