Cllr Stephen Smith, Dartmouth Town Council, writes: I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of a life-long friend and local man Patrick Franklyn, who for many years commanded the Dartmouth Sea Cadet unit that won many accolades. Pat had great personality and charisma and made his views forcefully to the discerning ear. His passion for the beagle pack at Britannia Royal Naval College was always very moving. Thank you Pat for over 50 years of friendship, and for what you achieved at our local Sea Cadet unit and for our very close parish community. Many will share with me these comments. We are all left with happy memories of the departure of yet another highly regarded special character. Rest in peace.
