Jessica Branton is a champion chef.

The Dartmouth Academy student cooked her way to victory in the town's annual young chef competition.

Jessica whipped up a dish of chicken wrapped in prosciutto ham, stuffed with spinach and pine nuts with a shallot and crème fraiche sauce – with farmhouse apple bake to finish – to win the competition.

Now she has a shot at yet more cookery fame as she is through to the next round of the Rotary Young Chef competition which will be going ahead at South Devon College on December 6.

Jessica was up against an all-male line up of academy youngsters in the competition run as part of the town's food festival.

She said: 'I really enjoy cooking and it's brilliant to win.'
