Dee Nutt, chair of Dart-mouth Caring, on behalf of the Trustees of Dartmouth Caring, writes:
With reference to the article in the Dartmouth Chronicle, about the CAB not being present in Dartmouth and people being too embarrassed to ask for help, I would like to advise your readers, and anyone that may need help with problems or debts, that Dartmouth Caring is in an official partnership with South Hams CAB to enable their services to reach outer areas.
This partnership was discussed by Emma Handley, bureau manager of the CAB, at the meeting in TCH and is a quicker way of referral for those needing help rather than an individual trying to do it themselves. The charity has been assisting people like this for a while.
We liaise regularly with the CAB and South Hams Council and the staff of the charity, trained by the CAB and DWP, are able to help.
We can refer people direct, without the lengthy CAB call referral procedure, and, if needed, continue to assist them with dealing with the advice provided together with helping to complete any information or forms themselves.
If you or your family need advice with benefit forms, allowances or debt, or realise that you may not be able to cope with debt, please contact Dartmouth Caring's office on 01803 834385 to arrange a private consultation.
