VAL JACKSON, of Drew Street, Brixham, writes:

As a long-time resident of Dartmouth – now living across the Dart in Brixham, where houses are cheaper, but still deeply involved in Dartmouth – I would like to say that this year’s regatta was once again wonderful and each day the streets were kept clean.

Sadly, though, not so at the recycling site at the Dartmouth park-and-ride, where I am weekly.

It is disgusting – filthy and forever overflowing. It is an awful shame that tourists who park here coming to enjoy Dartmouth have to see this sordid, neglected, overflowing and stinking site. And it is nothing new, as it is always like this, weekly and all the year round.

It is foul: always overflowing, smelly and a sordid welcome to tourists at the park and ride, when we Dartmouth people strive as a community to present Dartmouth – our beloved and historical town – to its full.

This is not the fault of the stalwart Dartmouth people, who welcome people to the town, its heritage and history; rather it is whoever is in charge of the recycling at the park and ride – the council?

Whoever it is, please just get your act together and clean it up.
