POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a hit-and-run in Dartmouth which left a local man with minor head injuries.

The 35-year-old of Victoria Road was hit by a car on Warfleet Creek Road at 12.50pm on Sunday.

He suffered a minor injury after hitting his head on the windscreen of the blue Fiat Estate, which failed to stop after the accident.

The man was taken to Torbay Hospital but released later the same day.

A police spokesman said: 'The victim hit his head off the car's windscreen. The vehicle made off from the scene.

'It was a blue Fiat Estate, possibly a Stilo model. It is not known if the driver was male or female, but the beginning of the car's registration is J.

'We are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information regarding the vehicle.'
