Sarah Bullock, Abbeyfield House, Kingsbridge, writes:

A call for help has been sounded by Abbeyfield House residents and residents of Saffron Park to muster a group of good spirited, green fingered individuals and groups and indeed any local businesses that wish to help either with some of the green stuff, paper or plants, who can work together to rejuvenate a small a neglected area of greenery based at the foothill of Saffron Park.

Two local residents, Graham Cummins and Tony Cheesmur have recently slaved away in the hot sunshine to keep the area in some sort of order.

Now, with Sarah Bullock, housekeeper of Abbeyfield House, part of Abbeyfield South West Society sheltered housing group, and house residents on board they hope to generate some enthusiasm from local groups, organisations and residents to come up with a plan to turn and sustain this area from eyesore to eye catching.

Something we can all enjoy on our way home.

Kingsbridge In Bloom have recently been very helpful in offering advice and have recommended setting up a 'It's Your Neighbourhood' project scheme for this area.

Similar sites include the old Dodbrooke Cattle Market site on Church Street, the Old Lime Kiln next to the Quay Car Park and the Old Primrose Line Railway Bridge.

We aim to hold an informal meet and greet to start with, at Abbeyfield House, Saffron Park on Wednesday 2nd October at 2pm.
